Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the liquid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are presently not informed of any harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A high-ranking official commented the attack made him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
